About Our Lhasa Apsos

The history of our lineage began as separate breeding programs, yet with common dogs. Fleetfire – Debby Rothman and Mary Schroeder – had been striving to maintain Tibetan type since 1979. Timbers’ – Julie Timbers – was founded in 1984. The following demonstrates how our lines intertwined from the beginning of our relationship. Click on each photo to see a pedigree for that dog.

Within the vast halls of the Gallery meet some of our dogs including those living in their Forever Home. To learn more about each dog, a click on the dog’s photo or name will bring up a page with more photos, a pedigree with an art photo and maybe even a scrapbook layout! On occasion, dogs retired from the breeding programs and/or show ring are available for their own forever home. If you’re wondering if such a dog is for you, read this.

… and so we sit here listening to the haunting strains of Legend of the White Stupa, paying homage to Sir Edmund.  Like the mountains mists, he has passed from our sight.  And it is with heartsore realization we see the mists swirling around the Gompas.  Will they too fade, only a heartbeat on the icy winds … symbols of a time and place lost in antiquity?

January 10, 2008

In the spring of 2001 I became aware the lineage of dogs tracing recent roots to Nepal, having been bred by Lama Gyen Yeshe, had crossed yet another border and were now in the United States. Interested in the group since arrival into the Western Hemisphere in the mid-eighties, I finally made my interest known. One thing led to another and on August 31, 2001 a group of ten Gompa dogs – six females and four males – arrived at their destination in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

Most of our Champions are/were co-bred and/or co-owned by Debby and Julie. Kaylee finished a number of these dogs and earned her own breeder Register of Merit June 22, 2007. Some were trusted to us by fellow breeders for our breeding program. Others – found at the bottom of this page – aren’t Champions, but have played an important role in the breeding program. See the filmstrip composite of all Champions. For a pedigree and photos, click on the dog’s name in the alphabetized list below.
