Kai-La-Sha Alright Alreddy 11/06/97 – 3/21/11

While you may have received this privately from Vickie, it’s something I want kept on the blog. Vickie approached me years ago, possibly before Ali came to me. She wanted a female puppy for a pet. Those can be hard to come by! When I decided to place Ali, she went to live with Alan and Vickie. Ali opened the door to one of my treasured friendships.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am the thousands winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush.
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

From Vickie:

A toast … to a new star in the heavens tonight.  A beautiful, shining red star.  It is, indeed, fitting that we raise a glass of red wine honor her memory.  Or, perhaps, to drown our sorrow at her passing.  What she added to our lives cannot be measured except by the heart.

Fly now, once again whole, to the high and ancient mountains … the ancestral home beckons.

Vickie’s latest rescue is cute!

Apso Rescue heart..by Kathy

All of these beautiful apsos have passed through Vickie’s big heart at Apso Rescue Colorado and found loving homes.
Many of the dogs were abandoned, abused, and neglected or sadly surrendered due to an owner’s illness or death. The dogs come in all “flavors”, age–even puppies, or wise, old monks with whiskers destined to melt your heart. Read more about the work of Apso Rescue Colorado at (http://apsorescuecolorado.wordpress.com/) and consider offering your support!

Himalayan Animal Rescue Team

Vickie shared this photo from the Himalayan Animal Rescue Team website:

This organization’s founder is Juliette Cunliffe. From the author information in All About The Lhasa Apso:

Despite her love of animals from a very young age, during the early years of her life Juliette Cunliffe had to make do with a variety of pets ranging from garden worms to guinea pigs. When she was eleven her father eventually gave permission for the first family canine companion, a Rough collie.

With several years spent away from home whilst studying and working abroad, it was not until the mid 1970s that she was able to become fully involved in the world of dogs. Owner of Lhasa Apsos and hounds breeds, she is a successful breeder and exhibitor and in a Championship Show judge of Lhasa Apsos, ass well as a judge of other breeds. Her special interest in Tibetan and related dogs extends also to the Tibetan people and to the country itself.

She holds the Canine Studies Institutes Judging Diploma and Breeding Certificate, is Hon Secretary of the Lhasa Apso Club and is a breed-note correspondent for Our Dogs, a weekly canine newspaper.

Vickie shared this. Not only did I want to share with fellow bloggers, but the blog is an excellent archieve!

This group did the photo shoot for the Loveland Classic on Sunday, of which Alan rode 62 miles.  I like their use of light and color!
